Juarez is a nice, family-oriented neighborhood in the central part of Mazatlán. Children are well-taken care of at home, generally, but there is a strong sense of spiritual poverty in the area. This feeding center exists primarily to help children and their families come to know Jesus. It was opened in the home/business of the family who run the center because they saw the need in their community. This feeding center serves not only children, but a lot of adults as well, who want to hear about the Lord.

Meet the Feeding Center Family:

Valqiria and Juan Esteban, along with their daughter Valeria run Hacienda. They own a construction supplies company and decided to open the center in their own neighborhood. From the start, they have always been serving in church, and volunteering in other centers. Several years ago, they decided they could make the materials shop work as a feeding center and asked for the blessing of the pastors to start serving their community. They have been faithful servants ever since. They are the lead ushers at Amistad, greeting everyone as they enter on Sunday mornings. Mama Valqi, as she is known, is responsible for every American visitor’s love of Mexican “bolis” (homemade ice pops).
