MONTEBELLO

Church Partnerships: Adventure of Faith | Port Orchard, WA

Year opened: 2015

Average Attendance: 25

Montebello is a divided neighborhood.  The area is filled with young people, many families with absent parents and there are clans.  These clans feud and fight, so there is both violence in the neighborhood and neglect of children.  Many of these children are growing up by themselves with no boundaries, no rules, and a lot of abandonment issues.  All of this leads to a chaotic feeling and high need.  For this reason, the feeding center has become a place of refuge for children.  They love coming into the building and being able to relax into feeling safe and loved.  It is transforming the neighborhood.

Meet the Feeding Center Family:

Wendy has been a longtime resident of the Montebello neighborhood.  When it opened, she started coming by to help in the mornings at the feeding center with the first family that ran it. When that family needed to make a transition out of leadership, Wendy stepped in to ensure that the doors stayed open and children were still loved, fed, and cared for.  That was several years ago now and Wendy has been a faithful leader ever since!  She is beloved by all who meet her!
