Expansion, Growth, Impact!
It is an exciting season at GO on the Mission. With life slowly returning to normal in
light of the waning pandemic, many of our partners are ready for years of expansion and
growth. Keep reading to see what’s next for several of our schools.
Bethesda School, Kaffrine, Senegal
Over the last decade, Bethesda School in Kaffrine has grown from one small class of
preschoolers to a thriving primary school that is recognized as the best in the area. Their
building and lands have grown as well! They now have a school, with large classrooms
(full of students), a separate building for preschoolers, and an administrative office that
welcomes inquiring families. The next step for them is a big one: adding a middle school!
Middle school is Senegal is the equivalent of grades 7-10 in the US. Every year, the students
who graduate from grade 6, along with their families, tell the headmaster how much they with
Bethesda kept going so they could continue their education there. They have the plans in
place and now it is our turn to help raise the funds to make it possible for the school to grow.
The middle school, which will make it possible for Bethesda to have four more grade levels, will
cost approximately $35,000 to build.
Centro Cultural Tikvah, Mazatlán, Mexico
CCTikvah is running at full capacity with two grade levels and a waiting list of students who
would like to attend the new school. With a reputation as an excellent school, growing stronger
and stronger, it is time to expand! The hope is to add TWO new classes of first graders next
year, which will be a huge step forward. Adding two classes in one year means adding two
new full-time teachers, two new classrooms to outfit, and lots more curriculum. With a capital
campaign around the corner, the current focus is to grow the Tikvah Scholar’s Fund which
allows more and more children to attend the school. The Scholar’s Fund is a monthly giving
program.
John Huffman School, Thies, Senegal
John Huffman School has been faithfully growing and expanding for nearly 20 years and is a
landmark school in Senegal. All the Christian schools in Senegal strive to be like John Huffman.
Their next step will be to build an entirely new preschool building on the land next to the
current building. By building a new space specifically for the youngest students, John Huffman
will be better able to meet their unique needs, as well as freeing up space in the original
building, which will enable them to open high school grade levels. This school has inspired
Christians in the country to open schools all over Senegal, reaching thousands of family with
the good news of Jesus and the tools to break the cycle of poverty. The new building will cost
approximately $77,000.
The impact of these ministries is so clear to all of the people who live in
these areas. Not only are children receiving excellent educations, no matter their economic
status, by families are being reached and lives are being changed by the Lord. Truly, an
exciting season of expansion, growth, and impact. If you’d like to help support one of these
projects, and to see even more projects that are happening, please visit
